Kelly Loudenberg checks in with this fun event from the Freegans - yes, the folks who dumpster dive (or as they put it, "employ alternative strategies for living based on limited participation in the conventional economy and minimal consumption of resources").
Build a bike by turning found bike parts into working bicycles. Workshops are held every Wednesday and Saturday; starting at 6:00 pm on Wednesdays, going until at least 9:00 pm, and from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm Saturdays. 327 West 36th St. bet. 8th & 9th Aves (look for sign at entrance). For more information go to Freegan.info.Of course, this is not to be confused with "How to Steal a Bike."

Ah, the importance of using a real microphone, or just having your soft-speaking subject talk louder.
While I commend freegans for rejecting reckless and needless consumption, their alternative to consumption is one-sided and is ultimately damaging because they do not contribute much to society. Imagine a world if everyone was a freegan. Everything would grind to a halt.
To summarize: they mooch without giving back.
grinding to a halt might not be so bad in the eyes of many.
i wonder if that dude bought his own weed, or found it in a dumpster.
