THEATER: The 3 Legged Dog Art and Technology Center (3LD) saw its headquarters at 30 West Broadway destroyed on 9/11. They’ve since rebuilt a fantastic new space, which opened last Spring. A new production there, The Curse of the Mystic Renaldo The, is said to be inspired by a lost silent movie found buried beneath a concrete slab during construction of the 3LD space. “Using revolutionary technology, 3LD was able to restore this film, which may have documented the shocking murder of frowzy aristocrat Renaldo The, the legendary figure of incompetent amusement.” The Mystic Renaldo The is a character originally created by Aldo Perez with playwright/director Will Eno, who made a big splash with his Thom Pain. Their concoction is described as “a hilarious fusion of a virtuosic musical performance, with slapstick comedy, horror and noir.” With live music live music performed by art-rockers Psycho the Clown. - John Del Signore

WALKING TOUR: The Uncool Kids point us in the right direction, listing a punk rock walking tour this weekend. ”A historiological / sociological walking tour / bar hop that compares and contrasts the gang culture of NY in the 1850s with the punk rockers of 1977. The principal underlying thesis being that the ONLY thing separating these two extraordinarily disparate cultures is 125 years and electricity. And since its a bar crawl, after a couple of pints, you believe me!”
Saturday // 4pm // Tour Starts at The Alamo Cube at Astor Place // $10 (rsvp to gidlevy (a) gmail.com)
THEATER: Kelly Link’s debut collection of stories, Stranger Things Happen, was called “an alchemical mixture of Borges, Raymond Chandler, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer." Her darkly humorous short story, The Girl Detective, has now been adapted for the stage by the Ateh Theater Group. “The Girl Detective is a master of disguise. She finds missing things, chases tap dancing back robbers and eats our dreams. But in her life of intrigue and adventure one mystery remains: the whereabouts of her long lost mother." - John Del Signore

KARAOKE: There's not a better way to end the weekend then with a little karaoke. We prefer the weekly Rock Star Karaoke at Mo Pitkins. It's like guitar hero, because you get to feel like a rock star (there's a live band), and karaoke combined. So tap your inner rocker and head over there.
