<description>&lt;p&gt;The big airlines have spent a lot of money on the infrastructure of the airports which they serve.  They spend money on the terminals and the low cost airlines come in to ready made gates at little or no cost to themselves, that is how they stay low cost.

<description>&lt;p&gt;That&apos;s pretty funny - The airlines that have landing slots allocated to them by the government (by regulation) are complaining that the government shouldn&apos;t regulate their schedules 
(by doing the most free market thing they could possibly do currently, which is auction off the rights to private bidders).&lt;/p&gt;</description>

<description>&lt;p&gt;They say the government should just be concerned with the safety of airlines, not regulating their schedules. 

I agree whole-heartedly.  Of course, they also shouldn&apos;t bail them out of financial difficulty either.  If you&apos;re going to take their money because you&apos;re poorly run, they&apos;re going to tell you your business.&lt;/p&gt;</description>
