Maybe David Lee Should Be Starting

2007_02_sdavidlee.jpgThe NBA's all-star weekend often disappoints, and this year's still might, even with the race between Dick Bavetta and Charles Barkley. But no one will call David Lee's performance in the annual matchup between the league's best sophomores and rookies underwhelming. The Knicks reserve (!) forward made all 14 of his field goal attempts and scored 30 points in a 155-114 win for the sophomores, who won for the second straight year. Lee was good enough to impress Tim Duncan, "I'm a big David Lee fan. I like how hard he plays. I like how he plays the game. If he continues to develop, he's going to be a heckuva player."

Now, this means almost nothing in the grand scheme of things. Little if any defense was put forth by both sides. Even the warmup event is more talent show than competitive game. But it's still nice to see a Knicks player take home hardware from the all-star weekend for something other than being short. (Nate Robinson still doesn't deserve last year's dunk title.) But Lee's had a great season despite Isiah Thomas' coaching like he gets a $1 million bonus if one of his players wins the Sixth Man Award. This is just another indication of the type of player he is.

David lee won't start cause he's white. Isiah thomas hates the whities. Remember Keith Van horn? the knicks were actually a above 500 team the last time Van Horn was here and once they shipped him off it was the end. How can you start jared jeffries over David lee and put lee in for the most minutes while jeffries averages 5 minutes a game? It's a statement by Isiah. Also I'm embarassed for Nate Robinson. Last year Igoudala should have won. How can you let Nate Robinson dunk 100 times and take 30 minutes to do his stupid dunks and let him win. His whole spud webb thing was stupid cause it was just a short guy dunking on a short guy. He should have brought Yao out or something. Nate Robinson sucks! Earl Boykins is a million times better

Well, Van Horn sucked. He choked under any kind of pressure, and he only had shining moments a few times during any given season. If you're looking cite great white players, you have to start with Manu Ginobili--otherwise you're not being honest. Now, let's compare Lee with Ginobili... no comparison. Lee is a hard worker, and one of my favorite players, but let's not pull the race card just because he isn't starting yet. Do you remember Dennis Rodman's 'amazing' stats as a Sixth Man? That team was almost all black. Lee is good, but until he starts putting up Rodman (on the old Pistons) numbers and stats, he can't complain.

Hell, just getting playing time right now is gold on the Knicks, look at how little they play Steve Francis--the same Steve Francis who has been looked at as a top ten Guard in the NBA for years. If there is a crime regarding starting positions and playing time, it's with Steve Francis.

As for Nate Robinson - he did take forever for his dunks, but it's in the rulebook that you can take as many attempts as you want. We can't blame Nate for playing by the rules - the NBA needs to limit the attempts. Still, the Nate Robinson/Spud Webb dunk has to be a top 10 greatest dunks in NBA Dunk Competition history.

First off, good white player...perhaps 2 time defending mvp steve nash? Maybe...idiot.

Second, Steve Francis deserves more playing time? Francis deserves to get cut. the guy is shooting a comically low 40% from the field, and averaging two turnovers in his little playing time. What a joke.

Yes, and the winners of Grammys and Oscars are, in fact, the best movies and music made each year... no, idiot.

If you had to choose between Ginobili and Nash to add to your team, you'd be fired if you picked Nash over Ginobili. But, since awards mean so much to you, let's remember that Nash has not won an NBA Championship. Ginobili has. End of story. Idiot.

sure John boy, let's see...

Phoenix with Nash playing: 37-9 (.804 win%)
Phoenix w/o Nash playing: 2-4 (.333 win%)

So I guess Nash isn't that valuable?

And you're gonna tell me that if the Suns had ginobili instead of Nash, they'd be better, or that if Nash was on the Spurs championship team instead of Ginobili, they wouldn't have won? Look at the stats, there is no argument for ginobili, probably the third best player on his team...idiot.

I'll wait for your response that will have no substance, and then I will pee on it.

Keep your urine to yourself, thank you. No matter who you think is better between Nash and Ginobili, no one would be foolish enough to compare either of them to Lee. He's a good kid, hard worker, but he'll never be on Nash's or Ginobili's level in terms of impact.

Readers, take heed, this is exactly how low the Knicks have sunk, people "decent" players (Lee) are now being championed energetically. Wow.

I will won't respond when you wipe Lee's jism from your chin. ;^)

I believe I said this a while ago with regards to the Knicks . The day that fight occurred was the best thing to happen to this team . Just look at their record after the fight . As for this cat, He's just getting hot at the right time for the team . I think the worst thing they could do is put him in the starting line up .Why mess with a good thing .
