MUSIC: Still bitter about not getting Arcade Fire tickets? Get over it and head to Bowery Ballrooom where Nublu Orchestra will perform (conducted by Butch Morris), joining them are Kudu, Love Trio and Brazilian Girls. This is Nublu Orchestra's record release party, so it should be a festive time - and what better way to soundtrack your Valentine's Day? Listen here.
THEATER: Observe Greeting Card Association Day with a romantic night at the theater. Susannah Nolan, whose Don’t Pick it Up was named Best Play in the 2002 American Globe Festival, is staging The Truth About Love for a five day run. The story takes place on a Philadelphia campus during the steamy summer of ‘58, when Rachel and Mark fall in love. “But for Rachel, 'the truth' about love is that it makes her see only a beautiful light at the end of a tunnel, not the locomotive speeding towards her.” Or, as Matt Groening’s translation of Friedrich Nietzsche has it: “Love is a snowmobile racing across the tundra and then suddenly it flips over, pinning you underneath. At night, the ice weasels come.” - John Del Signore
