A major point of sugar, beyond the fact it is not a nutrient (FDA), is that it is--mostly--refined and it is the refining process that changes sucrose into refined sucrose, pure stuff found nowhere in nature.

As someone who worked in a chocolatier for over 10 years, Hugh is absolutely on the money about the time frame between Valentines and Easter. Those are chocolate and candy holidays-ask anyone who works in a chocolatier or any drugstore/Target/Kmart, etc.
Factor in the time that candies hit the shelves (immediately after Christmas)--it's AT LEAST a 3 month time frame for people to indulge heavily in chocolate/candy.
Chill out people.
Great article Hugh!

you might be right. this guy can't do math for shit and doesnt make very good points. but nonrefined sugars are supposed to be much, much higher in vitamins and minerals though, and corned beef, which a lot of people eat in march, is made with sugar. look it up.

why is spring beginning april 8th?

"predictable three month sugar slump" what does that mean? It's traditional to eat lots of sugar between Valentine's Day and Easter? Who ever heard of that? Sugary corned beef? Since you're claiming it ends April 8th that's actually less than two months. The ideas in this post are incredibly poorly thought out , not based on any facts other than those dreamed up by the author, and badly written.

I follow very few rules in my dietary intake, but the one which has proven golden is 'no high fructose corn syrup.'

I can't begin to explain what a difference eliminating that from your diet can make.
