Arcade Fire Week Starts Now

It is upon us, five whole nights of Arcade Fire. If you weren't one of the lucky ones to get tickets to Judson Memorial Church (we hear capacity is only around 300), you'll be happy to hear the band will be back for three nights in May. Most definitely at a bigger venue (we've been calling United Palace Theater for a while now - though nothing is confirmed as of yet).

If you did get tickets to a show this week, we suggest getting there on time (they go on at 8:30pm) and we also suggest you stick around afterwards because the band has been showing up for surprise encores off the stage. Here they are in the lobby of Porchester Hall in London (see if you can spot Chris Martin singing along), and (below) this past weekend in the basement of the venue in Montreal.

Looks like Win (who we interviewed in 2004) had a camera of his own towards the end...maybe some footage will go up on their new Neon Bible website.

If I wanted to hear whining, I'd read the Gothamist comments section out loud!

jen,

when was the last time you actually posted something that didn't involve the following:

1. moveable hype (ie. continual, unabashed self promotion)
2. arcade fire (they're playing. great! move on! you're going or you're not going - who cares?)
3. "pencil this in" daily updates (obvious highlights lifted from a.m. new york, metro and the voice, without much thought or insight or serious critical commentary)
4. rehashed topics (e.g. "blipsters") that are posted on brooklyn vegan an hour before they appear on gothamist. you should seriously pay that guy for giving you fodder.

is it difficult shitting this stuff out or does it just come naturally?

'we're tired', you forgot pandas

i thought i TOLD you not to write about this crap band anymore!
i TOLD you things were gonna have to start CHANGIN around here!!!!

Compared to "Funeral", "Neon Bible" is a colossal disappointment.

Compared to 'Funeral', Neon Bible is a colossal disappointment. I weep.

i like the arcade fire a lot but I too am sick of you guys covering this.

It's bull that they are playing some tiny ass place so no one can see them. Why don't these dumb canadians do what good bands do that want to play small and play a couple nights at their hole in the wall of choice and play a couple nights at the Hammerstien or wherever.

I like the arcade fire less knowing they are pulling this elitist crap. they should stop patting themselves on their back and play for their fans (not 1% of them). They have to wake up and realize they aren't some little band and to play places like Judson is a slap in the face to their fans. Arcade Fire is to me a bunch of selfish pricks.

Will Gothamist write about how cool they are when they show up for an after hours show in Williamsburg so they other friends can see them? Wow, they are so cool. I can see it now "THey just played for 300 people and now they are playing for 50". What samaritans.

Gothamist, cut the crap and cover something other then your favorite band. I hope you all at least got free tickets for your shameless promotion.
