For Your Reading Pleasure, Rudy's "Weirdness"

2007_02_rudyweird.jpg

Just in time for whenever Rudy Giuliani decides to announce he's running for President, The Smoking Gun has excerpts from his 1993 vulnerability study that offered rebuttals whenever certain charges were levied. For instance, the whole "marrying his second cousin" thing. Or avoiding military service. Or being racist. Clearly, the study helped some, as Giuliani did defeat Mayor David Dinkins.

What do you get when a whore marries a cousin?

Too... many... jokes...

Rudy's SHINY BALD HEAD might actually be more help than hindrance to a 2008 run. He could claim that sunlight is reflected off his chrome dome and reflected back into space, thus lessening global warming. Take that, Al Gore!

Let's not forget this winning statement:

Let's not forget that FDR was also married to his second cousin. What's the the Rudy bashing? He did good for NYC.

Another Tim N. all-insult, no substance post.

Who really gives a sh*t? The people who say they will not vote for people based on this mudslinging are the same people who can't or don't vote...

So, really, who cares?

Besides, second cousins aren't really related, first cousins yes, second, not so much.

Can't vote for a candidate with Cancer.
The second cousin marriage will get him the redneck vote. But really who marries their Cousin?

Fact: Rudy Giuliani took the credit for bringing NYC back from the eleventh when in fact it was YOU and I who did that and never sought credit for it.

Fact: Rudy Giuliani knew that there was an environment of non-cooperation between FDNY and NYPD prior to the eleventh, but because of his connections to these branches, particularly to NYPD, he did nothing about it when there were major reform steps (reestablishing chain of command, ordering them to use radios on the same frequency) that were easily within his power. He had exercised these powers to make the cops happy, he wouldn't do it when it was necessary for their own safety and the safety of the city. What was the result? 300 dead firemen.

Fact: Rudy Giuliani sought to SUSPEND THE CITY CHARTER, the governing document of your city, because he didn't think ANYONE COULD BE AS GOOD A MAYOR AS HE and he should change the government rather than relinquish power. Look at that another way: we were attacked by terrorists who wanted to show that our blessed freedoms were phony. And thanks to Rudy Giuliani, they nearly were.

Fact: He is basing his entire presidential run on the fact that, the complete absense of any national leadership, he stepped into the void and had a good couple of days. Now he's running for President on the backs of the victims of the eleventh, some of which are dead because of his own negligence.

Fact: He has been implicated in the negligence at the pile that has resulted in the deaths and long-term illnesses of the resucers who worked at Ground Zero in the days after the attack, but don't get me started on that...

That enough substance for you, pal? Hence the 9/11 Whore... now we have to see how many johns he can drag along with him for this disgusting, insulting ride.

Oh, and another don't get me started (too late)...

Speaking taking credit for stuff, let's remember that Ray Kelly, Bill Bratton, and Jack Maple were really the ones responsible for the fall in crime, but Our Hero was the one who took the credit for it.

So he was the Crimefighting Whore before he was the 9/11 Whore.

I like this number,
30 NYPD cops died vs. 300 FDNY, How can that be when the NYPD has a larger workforce?
OK, I don't know the exact numbers but it's pretty damning numbers.

Tim N, You'll never prove Giuliani was seriously going to suspend the elections or swearing in of the next mayor. Have you been having cocktails with Gore Vidal? If you haven't read it, Vidal says Bush is going to cancel the '08 election.

And when did Giuliani take credit for bringing New York back? Maybe be took credit for getting New York through the few months after 9/11. Big, big difference.

And you're blaming the Mayor for the FDNY and NYPD hating each other?

And not one thing you cited was FACT. It was all you OPINION. Sad you don't know the difference.

I can't wait till the video of mr. lisp cursing at City Hall. What type of person would yell out "bullshit" in a megaphone at City Hall?
Then came the cops rioting by jumping on the roofs of cars at CH.
I bet someone has some hidden recording of him in private but waiting to set it loose.
Or, just bring in Bernie Kerik.

WOW!!!! Rudy married his cousin . I guess it's true what they say, "You learn something new every day" ! I supect the reason Rudy became so evasive when cornered was beacuse wild untamed animals don't like to be backed into a corner . They tend to strike out at an attacker .

When did the 9/11 Whore take credit for bringing NY back?

Last time he opened his mouth.

Listen to any speech he gives, including one this last weekend in NH. It's always "MY leadership after 9/11. MY bringing the city back after 9/11. MY standing on the street after 9/11." People who showed up for work on the 12th brought the city back after the 11th. But still it's "MY... MY... MY..."

Tasteless and graceless.

In October of '01, he told the three candidates for Mayor that they should let him have more time in office and in exchange he won't campaign against them. So I don't have to prove it, the newspapers did that for me. Or are you denying their stories, too?

And one more thing... the FDNY and the NYPD hated each other for a century. But the 9/11 Whore was uniquely placed to bring some of the aspects of their feud... the truly dangerous one... to a halt, and was advised by many in his circle to do so. He chose not to, not wanting to upset the cops and firemen and others in his political base.

Facts, my friend, facts. I'm sorry they don't fit the vision of Saint Rudy on the halfshell, but the guy's no saint. No matter what he says.

And for the record, I'm not up on Gore, I'm a Mailer man, myself.

To obtain an annulment because of consanguity in the Catholic Church (marriage to second cousins is allowed in the Church, as well as in New York State), Rudy would have had to swear that the marriage was not legal in the first place because he and his spouse were first cousins, and that he did not know this at the time of their marriage. At the time of their marriage, he swore that they were not closer than second cousins. Now, with his brilliant legal mind, did Rudy
a) not know that his first cousin was his first cousin, and marry in good faith, keeping together until, 14 years later, he discovered that they were first cousins
b) know that his first cousin was his first cousin, but lied about it, causing the marriage to be unlawful under New York State law, due to fraud
c) know that his first cousin was his first cousin, but continued to live in an illegal marriage, until he met Donna Hanover and decided to look for a way out
d) know that his cousin was his actually his second cousin (as certain biographies have claimed) and lied that they were first cousins to the Archbishop about it in order to obtain an annulment?

Three out of four seem awfully sleazy for a man who was so loud and quick to condemn President Clinton for having a consensual fling with another willing adult.

Rudy suffers, as do most republicans these days, from hypocricy... and people who are rational eventually see through that kind of behavior. This is a big reason why the Democrats beat the repugs in the midterm: they saw throught the pious talk and into the corruption of thee right. Rudy will suffer this fate: it's just a matter of time. How he handles it will be amusing.

During a City Hall press conference Rudy once again went after Bill Clinton, in the worst terms decrying his behavior with Ms. Lewinsky. One of the reporters asked about Judy Nathan (both she & Rudy were married to other people at the time), whom Rudy had been dating, taking to official functions as his date, and who was enjoying 24 hour police protection. The reporter asked whether Rudy was being hypocritical, in light of his having a very public affair with a married woman. I have rarely seen such a violent reaction. Rudy began screaming at the reporter, saying "That's a lie! That's a lie! Get him out of here! That's a lie!" He pounded his fists on the podium, his glasses went askew, his hair flopped down over his forehead, and so much saliva flew from his mouth that it seemed as if he were foaming at the mouth.

We in New York knew that these were not lies, and we got to see more of this bizarre behavior from Rudy, e.g. his Mother's Day televised announcement that he was seeking a divorce. (Did he actually call his children and tell them to watch daddy on television before this happened? We'll never know, but it seems to fit the pattern, I'd say.) Of course, Rudy had his lawyer, Raoul Felder, do the actual dirty work of smearing the mother of his children: Rudy stood behind him, piously wringing his hands, doing his best to look like the victim. He then tried to get a court order keeping his wife out of their home.

Don't forget, the NYPD were rudy's bread and butter. He gave them everything they wanted, even though many of them don't live in the five boroughs.
There were cuts in the FDNY but the NYPD had few if any.
Why were the FDNY number of dead so far disproportionate than the NYPD? Because they hated each other. You don't need radios to tell the other that the building is falling, you tell the cop, the cop tells central, central relays it to the FDNY.
NO ONE TOLD the FDNY.
