Legit or not, this scooter thing is a riot... Can you imagine the PR campaign for this? "Hey drivers, we know you love your cars, and you feel all warm and safe driving around NYC streets encased in steel. Well screw that, try a scooter for your commute from Long Island!" I can picture it now, 100,000 Vespas heading westward on the LIE every weekday morning.

"could reduce carbon dioxide emissions by over 26,000 tons" That statement is useless without a basis of comparison. Is that number a lot? That is like me telling you that if 10% of new yorkers drank 20% less coffee, we would save 5,000 gallons of coffee every year. The statement makes no sense without something to compare it to.

Yes, and that study? Paid for by a scooter company. We could reduce CO2 emissions a hell of a lot more by adopting commonsense policies that encourage bicycling and walking.
