Everyone keeps waiting for former mayor Rudy Giuliani to announce that he's running for president, but he keeps putting it off. At the California Republican party's state GOP convention, some suspected Giuliani would announce his candidacy but ended up saying everything but! He said, "Presidents have to make decisions and move the country forward. That's the kind of President I would like to be." Oh, and the last lines of his speech: "We need leadership that uplifts us and moves us toward the future. You get to decide who that leader is going to be. I wish you'd decide on me."
The NY Times reports the California response was "enthusiastic" especially compared to other parts of the country: More people showed up for Giuliani than for Governor Schwarzenegger's speech! Then again, they get to hear him all the time and probably hate Arnold's moderate stances. So, another week has passed without Rudy declaring - we hope he announces something by the end of the month, because the mudslinging should get really good then.
Senator Hillary Clinton was in New Hampshire yesterday, and the crowded asked her about her attitude towards Iraq; Newsday noted one person felt very strongly about Clinton's stance: "I can't listen to her until I hear her say it was a mistake... You know what, there were a lot of the people in the Senate [23 members] at the time who didn't vote for it." And Senator Barack Obama officially announced he's running for President yesterday: "I'm in this race, not just to hold an office, but to gather with you to transform a nation."

It never ceases to amaze me how well politician's bullshit is received. "...leadership that uplifts us and moves us toward the future." Oh please. I can see now that Giuliani would be a terrible president.
Like the candidate said on The Simpsons, "...moving up instead of down, forward instead of backwards and all the time turning, turning towards freedom!"
This is so exciting. We are about to witness the biggest contrast in ideology for President of the United States in our history.
One one side we have Hussein Obama. A guy who an IL Senate colleague of his said had a voting record "to the left of Mao Tse Tung." A guy who has a perfect 100 voting record from the Marxist ADA. A guy who attended a Madrassa in Indonesia as a child for 4 years and has an Islamic surname.
Contrast this with Rudy Giuliani, a libertarian Republican, fiscally conservative yet socially tolerant. Plus, Pro-Defense and Anti-Islamo-Fascist. A guy who told a Saudi Prince to shove his $10 million up his ass. A guy who the NY Times called a "budget slashing, privatizing Ayn Randian."
Folks you can't get a more extreme contrast than that. Leftwing Fascist versus a Freedom-loving Patriotic Libertarian Republican.
This is gonna be fun to watch.

We should not elect a president who has cancer.
A president should pass a clean bill of health. A cancer diagnosis would not fit that bill.
A cancer remission only means there's no cancer found but that does not mean it won't come back. Ask any cancer survivor and they'll tell you, you're still living from scan to scan.
Sorry to break the news to you but ask your oncologist for more info.
By "socially tolerant", you mean the same guy who just a few days ago stated he would appoint "strict constructionist" (Scalia-esque) judges who would in turn rewrite modern civil rights?
Nice try, you brownshirt dipshit. Giuliani has more in common with Mao than Obama - total state (or in his case, city) control and the eradication of freedom is Giuliani's legacy.
Rudi Giuliani is a HUGE DOUCHE BAG.
And one more thing before I shave my back, I am a douchebag.
As Eric said, "Rudy, I'm sooooooo scared, I can't lift myself out of this panic I feel after being struck by terrorists, please, please show me the way!" And the 9/11 Whore steps in and says, "I know Eric, you're weak, like all the others, that's why you need me, for I am the only strong man in the country."

These 9/11 whore comments really piss me off. The guy was almost killed on 9/11!
If Giuliani is a 9/11 whore, then Obama and Clinton are Iraq-whores, capitalizing off the deaths of Iraqi civilians and American soldiers.
He is a 9/11 whore to the hilt. He wasn't that great of a mayor and he'll be a worse president.
He's the worst of humanity.
Rudy dying in 9/11? one can only wish it did happen.
#2, you do NOT know what Libertarianism is. Giuliani's draconian police tactics are NOT in line with Libertarianism. Libertarians believe in LESS government intrusion on people's lives, and excessive policing is NOT our ideology. Get your facts straight.
if giulianni were a libertarian or truly randian, i would support him. he is, however, more totalitarian/fascist than any politician i have ever seen. he doesn't blink at imposing his value-based laws on the masses. he is as much a religious nut-job as george and he truly believes that has a place in our government. his foreign diplomacy is revolting and counterproductive. he is for gun-control. this man is not a libertarian. well, at least he is pro-choice.
FUCK RUDY!!!
You're right, the guy almost did die on the eleventh. And in case we forget, he'll be happy to remind us every... fucking... second... he... breathes...
Here's the thing, delanie, because I do see your point... but lots of folks DID die on the eleventh, and it is unseemly to crawl over those corpses on your way to the White House. He had a good few days, fine, thank you, now go away.
Let me make it clear... Rudolph Guiliani did NOT save the City of New York. WE DID!!!! You, delanie, and I, and lots and lots of people who went to work on the 12th and 13th and 14th and after that saved the town. The town was stronger than those who tried to make us afraid.
But now the 9/11 Whore is trying to make us afraid.

More libetarians are now backing Rudy. Latest Cong. David Dreier of California has endorsed him, as have two libertarian state assemblymen from California, and Dennis Miller.
