I Love NYC Pets

2007_02_cutedog.jpgFebruary is the city's first I Love NYC Pets month! Various city agencies and animal rescue are having adoption events in all five boroughs to encourage people to start their year with a pet. . In fact, there are many events at Manhattan Commerce Bank locations today.

For instance, there's this super cute dog at a Brooklyn shelter. Here's his info - he is a 9 year old gold and gray Cocker Spaniel. He's been in the shelter since the end of January and keep in mind that older animals make great pets.

There are extended adoption hours at city shelters and special starter kit gift bags filled with product samples and valuable coupons from pet product manufacturers. For more information, go to I Love NYC Pets.

Older pets are fantastic - I adopted an 8 year old beagle mix after college 6 years ago and she's still going strong. They are also great first time pets, as they are housebroken and are typically very calm, very chill.

Another very good source for pets: www.petfinder.com. Just type in your zip code, pet requirements and hit search.
