There must of been a new procedural change regarding photos of officers released to the media. Notice all the pictures released to the press had a photo of the officer with no markings, all sterile. Not even the red background that's on their issue ID.

The mayor bristled at a question from a reporter regarding "guns on the streets" but I missed the question. channel 2 news had the coverage. And, PC kelly just nodded his bobble head in agreement.

Another cop story? Wasn't it just last week a retired Staten Island Cop murdered his wife over a divorce? Why don't the cops with the older vests sell it on the open market and get an upgraded one? They do give LEO discounts. Yah yah, it's probably against procedures but would you wait till the NYPD gets you one? Either you like the job or you don't. I guess many don't but bitch about it.

blah... how is it affirmative action's fault that this police officer made alledgedly a bad choice? when cops who are not minorities commit crimes (driving drunk and killing people, taking bribes) -- does one blame restrictive hiring practices for their behavior? This police officer (and Gulf War vet) chose to subvert the laws she is sworn to protect -- who knows why but I doubt it is because of her ethnic background. unless of course the blah poster (10:15 a.m.) is saying anyone with this ethnic background and/or a woman automatically has a fluid or non-existence moral code. morningjava, your friend should call the ny civil liberties union -- he may have a lawsuit. also choose his battles from now on. it's a full out war on anyone who wishes to not give into the nanny state.

cops or crooks, when it comes down to it they're one and the same...unless your a wealthy MF they have no reason to look out for you. i.e. just the other day, grad student friend smoking outside bar in chelsea - bouncer comes up and tells him to scram...other folks he doesn't really bother with...he's dressed really crappy [worn out jean jacket + hoodie]. he argues w/ bouncer...bouncer calls cops...cops charge'em w/ battery...take him down to central booking...[friend is greek w/scruffy beard] all through the ride cops use racial epithets like you f---in muslim...you'll get yours, we're gonna kill all of you...blah, blah. btw, very funny WTF
