The shooting was cop on cop and the Mayor still was on his "too many guns on the streets" crusade.
OK, how bout this, don't give your cops guns, mr. mayor, If you don't want "too many guns on the streets"? Unfrikin believable.
The shooting wasn't cop-against-cop. It just so happens that the shooter's wife is a cop.
giuliani is a typical conservative: he only cares about power, and has no convictions or beliefs. like every other republican, he'll do whatever it takes to get elected, even betraying what he believes in.

Since you started the Gothamist newsmap, i've noticed a lot of "jumper down at" notices. With it happening as often as it apparently does, how is nobody on the ground ever hit?
What's up with that kid's head?
It may surprise some of you, but right-wing Rudy started his career as a Civil Rights lawyer. Over the years, Rudy has turned his back on every principle he ever stood for, broken every promise he ever made, doublecrossed every friend he ever had. He was a horrible, horrible mayor, who, on Sept. 10 had approval numbers as low as George W. Bush.
As for the often-cited drop in crime, people who have actually studied this (as opposed to some of the posters on this site) know that there was a nearly identical drop in crime nationwide. There was also a much better and effective use of the Police, thanks to Chief William Bratton (whom Rudy fired because HE wanted the credit for everything good happening in NYC) and his strong right hand man, Jack Maple. There were more Police on the streets of NYC because Bill Clinton, along with balancing the Federal Budget, allocated funds for more than 100,000 more cops in America. (One of dozens of campaign promises he either met or exceeded, as opposed to the last few repug presidents, who have never kept a promise.) David Dinkins went after these funds and put them into the NYPD, but, of course, Rudy claimed that it was HE who got that funding.
