Pencil This In

THEATER: Adam Rapp’s Stone Cold Dead Serious is being revived at Theatre Row on the West Side. The surreally dark comedy deals with a struggling family on the outskirts of Chicago who pin their hopes on their video-game obsessed teenage son. The kid just has to put his skills on the line in a real-life fight-to-the-death video game competition. Fun fact: When Stone Cold Dead Serious was presented at Chashama in 2003, stagehands changed the scenery in ninja suits. - John Del Signore

8pm // The Clurman @ Theatre Row [410 West 42nd Street] // Tickets cost $18

MUSIC: If you aren't headed to MSG for JT (that's Justin Timberlake, to you), then...well you probably won't get a better performance anywhere else in the city tonight. But there are options. All we really know about Alexi Murdoch is that one song he had during that one scene on The OC. It was a really important scene, there was a wedding or a party or a fight or something, and the song was called "Orange Sky". We bet he has other good songs that weren't tainted by the show, though. Tonight he's at Merc with Midnight Movies.

9pm // Mercury Lougne [217 E Houston Street] // $14

2007_02_arts_lostisfound.jpgTV: Watch Lost.

10pm // ABC // Free

EVENT: We can't even believe that a science club would get together on Lost night, but...they probably have TiVo. Tonight join the Secret Science Club at Union Hall, where physicist Janna Levin (author of "A Madman Dreams of Turing Machines") will school you on the super secret smart things.

7:30pm // Union Hall [702 Union St, Park Slope] // Free

And don't forget: TREY!

the question is, where will JT be AFTER his MSG performance??

I've probably seen a 100+ plays in NYC, and the worst one, by far, was rapp's stone cold dead serious.

Of the 100+ plays I've seen in NYC in the past six years, none have been as pathetically awful as Adam Rapp’s Stone Cold Dead Serious. Why any theater would spend good money producing this is as much of a mystery as why anyone would spend money for a ticket. It's a terrible show, boring, and has complete disdain for its audience.

I don't know what Ganesh's problem is... I saw Stone Cold last weekend and really enjoyed it. I liked Red Light Winter as well... and the ticket was $15, I don't know what he's so bitter about... It's not a terribly fun play, but definitely not boring... if anything, it probably has too much going on, ninjas, whores, drunks, drugs, suicide, a cute mute girl...
