Extra, Extra

- Today on the Gothamist Newsmap: a pedestrian was hit by a truck and killed in Chelsea and a bank robbery was foiled in Brooklyn Heights (more pix at Flickr).
- Most meta-muttonchop shot ever! Can't get enough? Fine, here's one more.
- A manager at the Park Slope Barnes & Nobles had a great idea for reducing crowding: banning strollers. What could go wrong?
- Dante's Inferno, Queens edition: "screeching elevated trains serving two lines roar overhead at all hours; strip clubs abut fried chicken joints and donut shops; Rikers Island drops off ex-cons here, and prostitutes and gangs roam freely; The Queensboro Plaza el station, despite a renovation a cople of years ago, is bone-chilling in winter and a dripping, leaky mess on its second level (to say nothing about frequent service outages on the #7). And, of course, Queens Plaza boasts the ugliest building in Queens, and possibly all of New York City."
- A short note from our favorite Brooklyn runner: "1) I am not mortally injured, and 2) I still plan on resuming this whole running thing."
- When phoning in death threats to a Federal judge, it's best to make sure you've disabled the caller ID signal on your phone.
- The Sun has an interesting spotlight piece about B&H Photo: apparently only 30% of their business is through their huge store on 34th Street-- the rest is from their website and online operation located in the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
