Actually, to parlay two items from this entry, Snooky's would have been a good place to propose, if it wasn't closing forever. I still remember many years ago trying to decide what bar to go to with some friends. Too many places had a line of people trying to get in. "How about Snooky's," someone asked, "is there a line to get in there?" "No," someone else said, "at Snooky's there is a line to get out."

I've always thought the best place for a proposal would be Ruby's. Actually, I think anywhere around Coney Island is great.

Absolutely the ferry! At sunsent, as you're coming into Manhattan, in the springtime. Perfect. Worked for me, anyway. Just don't go on a windy day, or you'll be terminally distracted by the thought of that ring you went way into debt to get ending up in the harbor.
