- For the first time in 12 years, the city is going to be giving out new Section-8 housing vouchers to non-emergency applicants. The vouchers allow low-income renters to pay a portion of the market-rate rent, with the city paying the rest.
- The city has cancelled East Coast Golf's management contract on the Marine Park Golf Course, because the firm allegedly has ties to the Columbo crime family.

- And Ronell Wilson was sentenced to death for killing two undercover police officers in 2003. He is the first man in 53 years given the death penalty in a federal case in NY State.
