The Times got one fact wrong -- Pfizer moved its headquarters to Manhattan in 1857, not 1961 (a fact readily available on the corporate website) -- and overlooked the company's greatest triumph, producing penicillin in industrial quantities in time for the Normandy invasion in 1944, thereby saving literally hundreds of lives. The plant is rather far from Brooklyn's gentrifying tides, but Hasidim are building new apartments within a block of the plant, and students, artists, and other urban pioneers are likely to arrive sooner, rather than later. The intimidating hulk of Woodhull Hospital ia only three blocks away.</p>
