Hot Sake - Food News You Can Use

2006_03_food_Hot Sake2.jpg- The great Chowhound uprising of 2007 seems like it will turn a corner; management promptly replies with fixes, explanations and small concessions. Give CNET some respect; they really do have to manage a loyal crowd who loves the site.

- Jennifer Leuzzi cracks some clarification news about our next Inn over by what used to be everyone’s favorite how-do-I-find-it-street, Little West 12th.

- Over on Grub Street Daniel Maurer highlights a good looking new báhn mì shop, excellent potential if it eats nearly as good as it reads.

- God sometimes the code is hard to crack, but is Regina Scrambling exposing, amongst other things, a possible threat to the continuity of BruniBetting ? You decide, the rest is fun too.

I see the porcine pantload has finally solved the mystery of how the whole world knows what Panchito is going to review before the paper even comes out. Is this the same Phat Phuck who presided over endless scurrilous-to-slanderous potshots while making oracular pronouncements on the inner workings of the NYT? No fool like an internationally exposed fool. But I guess when your whole life is devoted to the wrong end of the alimentary canal you have an excuse: It’s gotta be hard to see with your head up your e-rectum.

- Speaking of Eater, while we generally do not swim in their pool, the following may be good for the the next “Adventures in Shilling.” We thinks there may be a bit too much enthusiasm in posts about The Black Pearl from “luveting” on both Mouthfuls and Chowhound. On the latter 40% of the posts attributed to this handle are for the new Black Pearl with replies too all of them breathing life into each. On Mouthfuls it almost seems like intentional “off the scent” typos are included and the only shortcomings admitted are all rather innocuous - look for the locals to slaughter the “contributor” in the morning.

- How celebrity chefs really make their cash. Your least favorite star is pulling in $25,000 a day for personal appearances. Happy now.

- Since you, like us, likely do not earn the six-figure appearance fees of the top TV Food Network chefs, go grab some discount coupons the next time you are hitting up a steakhouse. Delmonico’s in the Financial and Bobby Vans or AJ Maxwell’s in Midtown all offer at least 15% off the entire check. Seems like a no-brainer, also makes their delicious burgers at the bar an even better prospect for our lunch money.

Got some Hot Sake for us ? Send it our way, credit will be given......or not if you prefer.

Schrambling can be entertaining and insightful, but her non-stop bitterness toward the Times is a bit much to take. Take some yoga classes and move on with your life. Sheesh.

Plus, it's too much work to figure out to whom her cute/sarcastic nicknames are referring. To be deliberately obscure isn't exactly the mark of a good writer.
