d2007_01_arts_vinyl.jpgVINYL SALE: If you're looking for some rare vinyl, you might want to check out this monthly event: Shakey's Record Fair. A meatpacking district locale seems...a little off, but as FreeNYC points out, if you're "looking for that super rare old school funktified 7"...Shakey's Record Fair is probably the only place you'll find it."

8pm // APT [419 W 13th St] // Free

THEATER: Rules of the Universe is a new site-specific play performed in adjoining bathrooms at Jimmy’s No. 43, a pub/theatre in the East Village. Writers tend to go to the bathroom when they’re in trouble (to paraphrase Jerry Lewis), but this 40-minute jaunt sounds intriguing. The fist part, set in a dive bar men’s room, involves a respected professor and his handsome student as they stumble through a botched sexual rendezvous. The second scene goes down in the ladies room of a fancy restaurant; a woman has fled her table after seeing her ex walk in with his girlfriend. Martin Denton raves, “the glimpses we get into three human souls at their most desperate are searing and incisive: truth is revealed in bold, concentrated strokes here.” - John Del Signore

6pm // Jimmy's No. 43 [43 East 7th Street] // Tickets cost $10. Seating is limited; call 212-946-5198 for reservations

COMEDY: Tonight, laugh it up as Fresh Meat welcomes some special guests, including:

• Annabelle Gurwitch (actor, comedian and writer). Currently contributes to NPR's Day to Day and "is best known for hosting the cult favorite Dinner and a Movie on TBS" (that's a cult favorite?!).

• Jonathan Ames (author). C'mon, you know who Jonathan Ames is.

• Jessi Klein (actor and comedian). Currently a correspondent and writer for the Showbiz Show with David Spade, often a talking head, and once entertained us at Laughable Hype.

• David Rakoff (author). A regular contributor to Public Radio International's "This American Life" and the voice of Abraham Lincoln for the audio version of Jon Stewart and The Daily Show's best- seller America (The Book): A Citizen's Guide to Democracy Inaction!

• Elizabeth Spiers (writer). Founder of Dead Horse Media (which produces DealBreaker.com and AboveTheLaw.com) and of course the founding editor of Gawker.

Not a cookie cutter standup comedy show, there will be storytelling, joke telling, readings and a lil Q & A.

8pm // Comix [353 W 14th St] // $10

MUSIC: The Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls is having a benefit concert tonight. The non-profit, founded in 1994, runs a summer day camp for New York City girls age 8 to 18. The program, essentially, teaches them to rock. Come support them, and see local rockers Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Tamar-kali, Kimya Dawson and Tiny Masters of Today.

7pm // Bowery Ballroom [6 Delancey St] // $50, Tickets are still available
