Yesterday around noon, a 25 year old man was killed by an F train. amNew York reports the Queens-bound train had been entering the 57th Street and 6th Avenue station. The police do not suspect any criminality in his death, but it's not clear what happened.
Lisa Rae Davis who was walking down the stairs to the platform told amNY that she heard a "really loud thud" when the train pulled in. When she got into the first car, another passenger said the train must have hit someone. Davis took a cameraphone photograph of the shattered window on the front of the train.
Earlier this week, amNY looked at the causes of deaths on subways; most are from natural causes.

From the look at the damage, he must've been leaning over the platform without looking the other way or something.
Is it just me, or has there been a lot of death and dismemberment on the subway in the last couple weeks?
Good call Kojak - I see that so often I don't know how this does not happen more.
What I don't understand is how they do not see the light on the walls or the noise of the train. You can hear those trains rumbling into the station easily.
Too risky too lean over and look - I wait til it gets there and then I know it's there lol
D
People seriously need to learn to stand behind the yellow fucking line.
My husband always says, "Why lean out there like that? Do they think they're going to miss the train?"
Also, I find it weird that they use the term "natural causes" when referring to the whole getting hit by a subway thing. I realize that it's a term used ruling out suicide and homicide, but still. A bit strange.
The people that die from natural causes on the train die of something like a heart attack. They don't get hit by the train. That would be an unnatural cause.
Thanks. Duh.
Good thing it was a Saturday, and I don't work.
