Cop Dragged in Queens Hit and Run

2007_01_qnshr.jpgA police officer was dragged 30 feet when he and other officers had stopped a GMC Yukon Denali in Queens last night. amNY reports that the officers were investigating a drug-related incident.

Sergeant John Pagnotta was in between the Denali and a squad car when the SUV tried to get away. Pagnotta, a 16 year veteran, was pinned then dragged down the street. He suffered three broken ribs when the car sped off from 122nd Avenue and Sutphin Boulevard and is in stable condition at Jamaica Hospital.

The police found the car abandoned at 139th Street, and are now looking for Walter Hurdle. Hurdle is the owner of the car and "is known to the police."
