The funny thing is that there are far more prolific graffiti artists who have lived & continue to live in Windsor Terrace / Kensington than you will probably ever know. Some of whom have even been bold enough to put their tags or their crews on the vanity plates of their cars. Backfat's problem was that he couldn't keep his mouth shut. He was all over the internet using his tag to post stupid messages to other graffiti artists just to try and get a rise out of them. How hard is it to trace an IP address? However, I doubt that the cops will make any of the charges stick to him unless they have some hard evidence to prove that it was him who did any of that graffiti. Unless they caught him in the act -- its all circumstantial. However, rather than see my tax dollars spent on this investigation and subsequent prosecution, I would rather have seen residents of Windsor Terrace & Kensington form a neighborhood watch so they could catch him & toss him a beating. What does it say about how much you really care about your neighborhood when you won't stick up for it yourself?

Walking around Bensonhurst you can see his tags all over the place. He was prolific in his attempt to leave his tag from walls to stores to street lights. He should be just as prolific (with the help of the courts) to paint over/remove his tags wherever they're found. I hope they make him pay for disrespecting our neighborhood. He's fortunate that the police caught him first instead of a homeowner whose walls he was defacing.

Yeah, I have to agree that the guy won't see a day in the pokey. Still, as others suggested, I hope he gets mucho community service. He should be shackled to that Banksy guy and outfitted with a wide brush and a can of white paint.

I was under the impression that "Criminal Mischief" was a misdemenor offense and punishable by no more than 1 year in jail (not prison). Even if they wanted to really stick it to him, it sounds like they're only charging him with two counts, which, would at worst lead to 2 years, but I've never heard of sentences being served consecutively for something like this.

Lock him up--if you live in the neighborhood (as I do), you'll know that his crap is ubiquitous (it's just his tag spray-painted everywhere--there is no art, nothing graphic, just the tag). While he's in jail, I hope they teach this narcissistic thug respect for others and for public space. And before he goes to jail, he should be made to clean his mess up (as community service). He can handle the noxious chemicals and straddle the ladders and subway tracks to reach and remove his tags, rather than having some poor city worker risk their safety. This guy is not funny--he's vandalized an entire neighborhood, ruined law-abiding people's property and he's costing city tax-payers money. Thugs like this need to be taught a lesson.

Given the mess he's made of my neighborhood and the lack of consideration this talentless narcissistic thug has shown for others, I say lock him up. And educate him about public space and respect for others. But first, make him use the noxious chemicals required to remove his ugly scrawl, not some poor city worker. And make him risk his safety by standing on ladders or on the tracks to remove his "work" on the top of the subway station and on the pillars between tracks. It's OK to find this funny when you don't live there and have to look at it countless times as you walk around your neighborhood everyday.

This is the type of offense that would be well-suited to corporal punishment or shaming. A little Simgapore justice delivered to his ass would be much more cost-effective than Riker's justice in his ass. I hope he is forced to compensate the people whose homes and buildings he "tagged".
