Rachel Ray is one of those celebrities that was just chosen to become as popular as she has become. She really doesn't stand out as a chef or a personality but has been chosen by the powers that be to thrust her into the spotlight, and noticing that fact kinda ruins any appeal she used to have.

why is this suprising? Its a specialty store, why would the normal Food Network viewer go here when they could probably find more Rachel Ray books for less money at a Barnes & Noble. This is like saying "the people at Other Music told me that for every one Ashlee Simpson CD they sell, they sell 15 Clap Your Hands Say Yeah CDs".. its like "yeah, no shit."

Regardless of Rachael Ray's merits or what anyone thinks of her, isn't it the height of disingenuousness to say nobody at Kitchen Arts and Letters never heard of her? You mean to say that they never heard of someone who is on the Food Network every day for the past several years? Talk about Upper East Side snootiness!

This place sounds wonderful; I took a seminar on the history of food, diet and nutrition in western culture when I was in college. I wish I had known about this place at the time.
