I find it interesting that there are two negative comments above about the "fairway" crowd. Chances are if you're reading the same materials (Gothamist) that they are, you're closer to that demographic than you probably realize. That place sounds great thanks for the tip. I live within walking distanace and will definitely have to check it out.

Hey Hungry Cabbie- Where can I find a Chicago Italian Beef (Think Mr. Beef) sandwich here in NYC? Anywhere? Defonte's is good but I miss my Italian Beef injection.

Red Hook was already going the way of the yuppies and my rent is going up... but I'll feel evicted if this joint is flooded with the Fairway crowd. I'm sure Defonte's won't mind... but I'm being pushed out to the edge. Socially and literally.

Thanks for giving it away guys! This place was one of Brooklyn's best kept secrets, but now I am sure it will be full of nouveau Red Hookers that eschew Associated Supermarkets in favor of less-corporate (hah!) Fairway. God I used to love this town...
