So we get stuck with the stinky, fat-ass republicans and miss out on the birkenstocks and peace signs. Sounds like a raw deal.

I think it's a good idea to go somewhere else. Good move. No problems at all with Denver getting the nightmare.

If we had a more "civilized" mayoral administration, that would be what, like David Dinkins playing tennis and taking high tea with Vernon Jordan? Oh, do I ever long for the days when mayoral achievements were measured in the square footage of expansions to USTA tennis centers in Flushing.

The only thing worse than the people inside MSG at the last convention was the "critical mass" of unreconstructed filthbag twenty-somethings who saw fit to lodge effete protests and enthusiastic smoke-ins. What an embarrassment that supposedly thoughtful people are proud that this sort of animalia typifies the loudest opposition to the morally bankrupt GOP.

And yes, the cops overreacted to the hippie protesters. And yes, Mike Bloomberg is a good mayor.

Thank goodness we lost! Just thinking about the crowds, the media and all the extra security measures us NYers would have had to put up with makes me shudder...

It makes sense - it will give the dems a broader seeming appeal. Everyone already knows about the dems on the coasts.

I think that it's a good idea for the Dems to try to appeal to the mid-west & western states. The democrats already have the votes of New Yorkers.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

perhaps if we had a more civilized mayoral administration and police chief, it would be ok to host dnc 08. however, we really do not need another gitmo on the hudson.

then again, bloomie, et al may not care enough to "protect" the dems.

Considering that the 2004 Republican convention was in NYC and the 2000 Dem convention was in NYC, I think the wealth should be spread a bit.

And the Dems are trying to appeal to the entire country not just to big coastal cities that are already on their side. The Democrats in places like Kansas, New Mexico, Montana, Nevada, etc. are really exciting and where the party is headed and they are the ones that will bring the Dems back into power. I think it would have been image suicide to be be linked with NYC yet again, so it was the right choice.
