Shortly before 10, Gothamist got a tip that it was snowing in Manhattan in the Flatiron district. Just a few minutes ago, we witnessed the first snowfall of the Winter outside our offices in Greenpoint. The snow seemed to be coming from a swath of dark clouds above us. Those clouds have since been replaced by blue skies.
We tried to take a photo of the snow, but there was so little of it. The best photographic evidence we could come up with was the pictures above of snow streaking by and of snowflakes on a garbage can. Very exciting. Did you see the snow earlier this morning?
And if you forget what snow looks like, there are always those holiday snowflake stamps from the USPS.

Global warming hasn't totally won! At least that's what I was thinking for a second this morning when I saw the snowflakes.
And I was just getting used to the odd weather...
;)
it snowed (flurries) in redhook for about thirty seconds back in late november at five am. sorry no pix.
I could see the clouds over Midtown from Harlem but didn't see any snow up here. I wonder if the official observer in Central Park saw it?
Yanno, you can have all the snow back. We really don't want it anymore, never did in the first place. We have plenty! Here in Denver, we're used to the weather you are currently getting, as you are used to the weather we have. Take the snow back!
I was walking in Soho just before 10am this morning when it started! The flurries got heavier for a little while and then stopped. :(
A tip that it was snowing? What did you do? Look out the freakin' window!
The temp. today in Alaska just for comparison
-39.2 °F / -39.6 °C
Partly Cloudy

the answer is yes
I already bought a whole mess of those snowflake stamps, and plane ticket to Switzerland.
Speaking of global warming, I just finally saw An Inconvenient Truth. Truly terrifying. We're such a bunch of selfish assholes, we humans.
I, too, thought what Jen thought this morning. Although people keep reassuring me that this is an El Nino year. Either way, I'm still worried.
Ben K. - I actually did need a tip... there's no windows in my office. :)
when did you guys move to greenpoint?
is your "office" your apartment, tien?
I got a pretty good picture of it, and then compared it with the brilliant sunshine that followed 10 minutes later.
Yes, as someone in Boulder, CO, I'd like to say I hate all New Yorkers. Especially my sister who keeps taunting me with her tales of "the Sun" and "sidewalks/roads not covered in ice and snow".
#13: please.
amsci: fair enough. Here in my office, those with windows spread the word quickly.
is that a gibson custom guitar case in the last pic?
it's a trash can lid.
