8th Avenue in the 50's and 60's has like 50 good Chinese restaurants. Dim sum places, seafood, chicken feet, whatever you're into. Go to 5th Ave for the Mexican food.

I worked in Bay Ridge for several years, and Lai Yuen was simply a wonderful, elegant, friendly place to eat. From lunch by myself, to dinner with 15 customers I was always treated like the most important diner. The staff is friendly, the food is consistently good, and the atmosphere is certainly a step up from the average "american" chinese place. Lai Yuen is also a great value & they have free valet parking, which in Bay Ridge is a major plus. Oh, and I would be remiss if i didn't mention the great view of the Bridge form the circular bar. Great place to catch a drink at the end of the day or before dinner. I may not work in Bay Ridge anymore, but I will certainly revist Lai Yuen.

Did you guys order the egg foo young? JM is correct, I didn't think real Chinese was the point, think A Christmas Story Chinese food. Not, Eat, drink man, woman Chinese food.

I don't think that real chinese is the point here. One more block to Fifth Avenue in the 50s and there's a bunch of tasty restaurants, authentic Hunan cuisine.

Sounds like a fun place. I usually chuck all that egg roll filling and just eat the wrapper. the last time I saw a flaming dish was at a chinese restaurant in Albany. anyone try that old school looking place Jade Mountain on third ave, man?
