I must be the only person posting who has witnessed a family member suffer through the onset of mental illness. Comforting to know that people think they're totally expendable.

clubbing the back of his knees would have been sufficient form of "by the book" restraint. Sure, ed, until the next story when "man dies after blood clot from legs travels to brain after being clubbed." Then they won't be allowed to do that, either. Not to say the cops do everything right or even most things right, but there seems to be a knee-jerk reaction in much of the public that cops are guilty until proven innocent. *cough* (Sharpton) *cough*

Another mentally ill deranged lunatic has been culled from the DNA pond. This is good news. I support the cops 100% because the dumb family had called them for help then neglected to tell them that he's mentally ill. Duh. Double duh. Oh, and the libtard PC media seems to have a hate-on for cops lately. Therefore, I will always support the cops 10000%.

Cops are not social problem solvers! These people could not deal with their family member themselves, so of course, they ask the cops to come help. Why couldn't they convince the man to go? Probably because they were afraid that he'd hurt them instead. This man hurt four cops with his actions, were the cops supposed to continue struggling and risking further injury?

"Excuse me sir, could you provide a complete medical history before we decide whether to use this taser?" If we go that route, I suggest that we ban police from firing their guns due to the risk of lead poisoning.
