Last Night's Action: Nets Wake Up Just In Time

2006_11_snetslogo.jpg

  • Nets 91, Bulls 86: Things looked bleak for New Jersey until a late fourth-quarter run saved their bacon. Vince Carter and Jason Kidd helped them at the end, but if not for Bostjan Nachbar and Richard Jefferson, the Nets wouldn't have been within striking distance. Nachbar's in for some more time now that Nenad Krstic is gone for the season. He started Friday because Jason Collins had a strained back, and he tossed in 16 points.

  • Knicks 111, Sonics 93: Eddy Curry carried the load again by scoring 27 points in 30 minutes. and Stephon Marbury decided to contribute a team-high 28. The team finished its trip through the West at 2-3, but that feels a lot better when the last two games were the wins. The Post and The Times have both recently addressed why David Lee hasn't been starting over Jared Jeffries. With Friday's win, New York is now 9-15 when he comes off the bench and 8-8 when he starts. If Coach Isiah Thomas wants to use him for 35 minutes off the bench every night, that might work. But if Lee loses minutes to Jeffries, it will be a severe disappointment. Lee and Curry are the two bright spots on the team this season.
