It's another round in the city vs. nightlife: Police shut down West Chelsea nightclubs Crobar and Sol last night. The Post says that police "cited nine instances of violence," drug arrests, and serving alcohol to minors. Yeah, that happens when people are shot in the leg.
Sol's offenses included drug arrests, assaults, and SLA violations. Plus, during the raid, police found "two men in the DJ booth rolling a marijuana joint with coke out in the open." Good one! It should be an interesting day at court on Wednesday when the clubs try to argue for their re-opening.
The NYPD has been raiding nightclubs for a while. Last September, the City Council recommended some measures to improve bar and nightlife safety. And late last year, there was some rumor about clubs wanting to leave West Chelsea.

The clubs will be back open for next week. They’ll clamp down on drugs and underage drinking at first, but then things will slowly return back to normal.
And so... The cycle continues.
well, I found that strange, if police are trying to shutdown these nightclubs. A month ago I went to Crobar. When I was getting off around 1:am I was trying to buy some BBQ chicken on a sticka getleman approached asking me if I knew where he could get some cocaine. I just looked at him and responded that nah man I'm cool. The funny part was 2 cops were standing less then 10 feet away from me. I'm not saying that people are not doing bad things inside of those clubs (selling drugs or other things)but I found that ridicule if they want the owner pay for the price. It is just my opinion. I have been to both places and I never had any problems with anyone. Security is ok. They are not God. But they do a fair job. If the police is really investigating crimes they can go to any of those promoter websites where they have hundreds of pictures posted on those websites. I'm sure they will be able to spot one or two bad individuals.
