Take the Cannoli...And Smoke It?

2007_01_cannoli.jpgThis happened in Hempstead, at the Nassau Country jail, but we think it speaks volumes about bad ideas and delicious pastries. Rocco Bove, a correction officer, dropped off some Italian pastries to be given to an inmate. But one of the officers on duty decided to have a taste first. And the officer tasted marijuana. Those are some taste buds!

The Post reports that lab tests confirmed that the cannoli filling did have marijuana. What probably sealed the case were the matches and rolling papers in the box as well. Bove was charged with promoting prison contraband and unlawful possession of marijuana, but his lawyer says Bove may be the victim of a prank. From the Post:

Gullo said proper protocols for the delivery of goods to inmates were not followed and that the cannoli may have been tampered with. He added that Bove had no connection to the inmate in question.
Truly bizarre! And it seems that the marijuana was hidden in the pastry shell, and then cannoli was put back in at the ends so it didn't look suspicious. But if you wanted to make a real pot cannoli, you'd probably mix the cream filling up with the pot. Either way, we know what we want for dessert tonight.

Veniero's has cannoli kits that can ship anywhere in the continental USA.

How do you light the end of a pastry? Kind of like trying to smoke a nicotine patch I suppose.

"But one of the officers on duty decided to have a taste first"

Is that what we're paying him for--to steal inmates presents? Surely there will be some disciplinary action taken?

i don't know why they didn't just make edibles instead of trying to smuggle it in food. edibles are far more inconspicuous, much strronger, and are totally discrete to consume.

i had some brownies the other nnight that caused severe couchlock.

The problem with smoking a cannoli is that they burn unevenly. Pretty soon you're left with a "canoe". If you must smoke your cannoli, drag slowly for the best results. That's what I've heard anyway.
