  • Most amusing tip of the week from Gothamist Contribute: "gay ass L train broke down at bedford. probably too many large sunglasses and ugg boots to handle."
  • George Bush has been reading your mail for about a month.
  • Park Slope Moms ain't nothing to fcuk wit'!
  • Related: there ain't no feud like a Park Slope real estate feud, because a Park Slope real estate feud don't stop.
  • Today on the Gothamist Newsmap: a bus accident in the West Village, a sexual assault at Coney Island Hospital, and "multiple sick on a plane" at JFK.
  • Next from the producers of the recently-cancelled OC: Gossip Girl. The show "centers on the titular anonymous blogger who gives the scoop about the rich and spoiled teenagers living in New York's Upper East Side."
  • Gothamist has received its greatest accolade ever: being quoted on a Freshdirect mailing.
  • This year's primary election is being rescheduled because it falls on September 11th.
  • And finally, just what the city needs to class up Times Square: an M&M World store, featuring "more than one million milk chocolate and peanut M&M's, a Blue character posed dancing to Saturday Night Fever, a 21-foot-tall Miss Green M&M's version of the Statue of Liberty and an M&M's color mood analyzer that determines which candy color best suits visitors' daily moods."

Isn't using the word gay as a perjorative offensive to anyone else but me, Suburaban Neighbor? I'm sure Gothamist would not spotlight a reader comment if it employed a different minoriity group descriptor in a negative fashion. And, no, I'm not just being sensitive.

Oooh, Park Slope drama -- someone call a Rushkoff!

yeah, spotlighting someone who refers to the L train as "gay ass" is pretty pathetic. the oversized sunglasses and ugg boots are a fair assessment of the beford hipsters, but gay ass? come on Gothamist.

Lets hope that kid isn't in Park Slope, I hear there is a propensity for him to get mugged!

Or get run over by Bugaboo stroller mom who care nary a single hair on that ethnically undetermined head of yours.

Substitute "gay" for "gook" or "chink" and Jen Chung's panties would be in knots.

I was personally offended by the "gay ass" as well.

a bus accident in the West Village

The one invariable rule of a bus accident: the number of people who claim they were injured while passengers on the bus will be at least twice the maximum possible passenger capacity of the bus.

Large sunglasses and Ugg boots? Bedford Ave uber-hipsters may look stupid, but they don't look like they just came off the LIRR or NJT 190. Skin-tight jeans, ballet slippers with gym socks, and 60s plaid shirts I think he meant.

It just goes to show, people likes to criticize what they never see or experience themselves.

When the new M&M store announced that it would be hiring around 100 mostly part-time employees a couple months ago, many thousands of people turned up to apply. The crowd was so massive that a large number of police, including mounted units, had to be summoned to restore order.

george bush doesn't use email as he states in this interview, but he does use "the google". I am glad for that.

You're proud of helping to promote the environmental nightmare that is Freshdirect?

EXACTLY tim!! just my sentiment too.

gothamist, as fairly environmental aware peeps, you should know better. let's try to get you a new quote...

"fresh direct trucks SUCK! "

Why is FreshDirect bad...please explain.

fresh direct trucks are too numerous and needlessly block many parts of the street as they flounder about to keep up with demand. the trucks flaunt the driving and parking rules as much as the ups and fedex guys do, AND they are BIGGER. this makes it very dangerous for everyone driving cars and, especially, bicycles. in addition they pollute.

sheesh, while i can understand the challenge getting fresh stuff in some nabes, what is soooooo very difficult about putting on a jacket and actually walking over to the store and carrying your groceries home. we do not live in the suburbs!! aaaaarrrrggggghh!

"sheesh, while i can understand the challenge getting fresh stuff in some nabes, what is soooooo very difficult about putting on a jacket and actually walking over to the store and carrying your groceries home. we do not live in the suburbs!! aaaaarrrrggggghh!"

The quality and range at Fresh Direct is much, much higher than many local NYC grocery stores. Also, not everybody wants to stand in line at the local Gristedes for 15 minutes to pay $3.99 for a carton of orange juice. I love Fresh Direct because my hours are very unpredictable and they deliver late at night - I'm certainly not alone in this city in not wanting to spend my free time jostling around the grocery store for overpriced, often sub-par food. If that's lazy, so be it.
