are you really suggesting it was better to have fires in the streets than to mulch the trees for reuse?

In Brooklyn in the 50s we kids would just gather a bunch and burn them. Immediate conflagration and lots of fun.

I've read 19th century accounts of those kids also torching the trees.

In Brooklyn as a kid up to the 1960s, we had a simpler solution to the discarded Christmas trees.

We'd gather a bunch and light them. An immediate conflagration. We never got arrested because it was so prevalent.

I've seen 19th century accounts of the kids doing it then.

But NYC has become so Disneyfied since then.

even if you dont have a tree, and you know of someone who needs to get rid of their's and doesn't have the manpower to do it, help them.

its for the city..
