  1. Ouch! A teacher accidently amputated a kindergartner's finger yesterday at PS240 in Clinton Hill. She was slamming a door, and didn't realize that he had placed his finger in the way. Doctors at Lutheran Medical Center were able to stitch things back together.
  2. A gun found in a Westchester lake has been definitively linked to the murder of one of Bill and Hillary Clinton's neighbors. The police haven't announced any progress in the case, by the Post is saying that the husband is still a prime suspect.
  3. The elderly woman who killed her best friend in a suspected DUI in Queens says the friend was actually at fault-- because she gave the driver the directions that led them on to a one way street.
  4. A warm winter has resulted in a 20% drop in coat sales this holiday season. Time to invest in bikini futures!
  5. Good news: Pataki has signed an insurance parity law, designed to force insurance companies to provide the same level of care for physical and mental illnesses.
  6. 1 Times Square can be yours for a mere $4.5 million per year. That includes a three story retail space and 19 floors of office space. Unfortunately, all the windows are blocked by neon signs.
  7. Chelsea Now has a good story about the trials and travails of Marie Palladino, a not-so-crazy Bird Lady servicing the pigeons of the far West Village.
  8. Remember the "Roccer Mom" who killed her daughter's friend in a DWI after partying in NYC? She as offered a plea deal - plead guilty to manslaughter for 2-6 years in jail max, versus 5-15 years
  9. The Daily News says that Eliot Spitzer's withdrawal of support for Alan Hevesi is what put a nail in Hevesi's coffin: "In the end, Spitzer's resolve proved to be a force more powerful against Hevesi than any Republican attack, of which there were many, or even the voters, who reelected Hevesi by a landslide, despite the "Driving Mrs. Hevesi" scandal."
  10. Advice from Richie Notar, managing partner of Nobu, on how to enjoy a holiday meal: "Leave your cell phone at home. Surround yourself with people you enjoy. Go where you feel comfortable, not where you’re expected. Go local when you can. Do not network over food."

Amputated? Come on, it was just the tip of his finger! Even the Daily News didn't use the word amputate.
