DJ Carl Blaze Dies from Shooting

2006_12_arts_blaze.jpgDJ Carl Blaze, who was shot 13 times earlier this month (on December 7th), passed away this morning at Harlem Hospital. The popular deejay for New York's Power 105.1 was expected to live if he could survive the initial days after the shooting.

Another deejay for the station, Déjà Vu, made the following statement just after the attack:

"It hit hard for me personally, because I was on the air when I heard the news. When I delivered the info to my audience, I had a semi-breakdown on the mic," she said. "The frailty of life was heightened in my mind. It was as if someone had punched me in the stomach. Life is too short for senseless violence."

No official motive has been announced, at one point an old grudge was being explored as the reason for the attack, and currently police are seeking to talk to a woman that may have played a role in Blaze's death.
