Another pizza spot is coming soon to the LES, right in the thick of it all on Ludlow Street between Houston and Stanton. Formerly partners in nightlife spots Happy Valley and Show, Sal Imposimato and Joe Vicari have banded together again to open Pizzeria De Santo.
Eschewing the $3-4.50 slices at Pala (we love the pumpkin and pancetta slice regardless of the cost) and the over-priced, fancified pies littered around the area in favor of basic round (red and white) and square slices, they hope to bring quality product based Grandma’s recipes to late night eaters. Used to creating environments for you to lose yourself within, this time they say it is about some time travel with a high-concept design based around 70’s design ideals. Look for a mid-January opening and we will try to bring you early word when it is available.

Love Pala's pumpkin too. Yum. Haven't been there in a while - thanks for the reminder
Um, pumpkin and pancetta on rolled dough may (or arguably may not) be considered food, but it sure as hell isn't "pizza". I don't give a shit what the hipsters say. $4 a slice? Self-parody.
What are the overpriced pizza spots in the area besides Little Frank's? Location wise, this pizza spot will make a killing off Max Fish and the Dark Room, no matter how it tatses. It will also affect Rosario's pockets for sure; poor Sal. But i have a feeling this pizza is gonna suck, based on their corny design scheme, dumb name, and horrible signage.
this place is retarted...the pizza is pretty good but the slices are tiny and there isn't much sauce or cheese goin on.
the worst most annoying most business killing part is that instead of being normal and charging 2 dollars for the slice, they add tax to it, so it's 2.17 for a regular slice. wtf is that about? i don't care how many brazilian girls you hire to work the register you club scum, you guys are corny. i'm going to rosario's out of principle, taste, and price.
visited pizzeria de santo this past week and it's by far one of the best slices i have had in the city!! i originally ordered 1 slice of mama's and actually was excited to order #2 for a change! its a fresh relief to enjoy an actual brick oven slice rather than the cardboard with sauce and cheese on it that everyone else is serving. btw the guy behind me knocked off an old school italian hotdog that looked great! whenever i am in the les this place will be getting my business!
Rosarios has gone downhill in a huge way. I've been going to him since he was on Houston but lately I'm shocked by how horrible some of the pies they are serving taste. No quality control at all.
