5. Apparently Judith Regan was fired for making an anti-semitic remark-- she said a "Jewish Cabal" was plotting against her! That whole OJ thing probably didn't help, though.

There have been a rash of thefts at the Park Slope Food Coop, and some "unnamed members [are] saying that those who appear to be outsiders (which some read to mean poor blacks) are not being carded at the door because the co-op’s members (which some read to mean privileged whites) are afraid of looking racist, resulting in purse-nabbings."
8. Good news for LIRR riders on the East Side: the federal government is giving NYC $2.5 billion to build an LIRR terminal at Grand Central.
9. Whale vomit is worth as $10/gram, which means a lump owned by a pensioner in Montauk could be worth as much as $18,000! If only kitty throw-up was worth that much, we'd totally be able to quit this blogging thing.

11. Time to panic: The Audubon Society's Christmas Bird Count revealed "the numbers of Eastern Meadowlarks and Ring-necked Pheasants have plummeted from what they were in decades past."
