art for arts sake... as an artist we are used to people either loving what we do or hating what we we do, people shouldn't get defensive for comments made, the artists can handle it. we do it because it's something we must do, we have an energy that has to come out of us in this way, i'd loose my mind if i couldn't do this. if i knew "why" i did it, maybe i wouldn't do it? rene gagnon "suicide bomber"

As the curator of the project, I want to rebut something that cass said above. A major portion of the artists represented in the show were women, not white males. Here's a few - Swoon, Maya Hayuk, iminentdissaster, jasmine zimmerman, you are beautiful, thundercut, prune, muck, lady pink.

i totally love this stuff! in my eyes it is great art! what ispecially love about it is that it is out there for everybody, it isn,t kept in sterile shrines for the refined enjoyment of few. it isn't for anybodys personal profit - though it deserves to be rewarded! these people are extremly skilled hours and hours of learning and work has gone into such pictures. it is great that we are allowed to touch it and it isn't reigned over by snobs.

Some good art, some bad, a lot dumb, but the real problem I have with the whole project is the social devolution. 90% of the artists who were invited to work on 11 Spring St. are white males. Even the mainstream art world has become more inclusive of women and people of color than this, why are these street art people moving backwards?
