Should NYC Be Nervous Over Abdel-Rahman's Ill Health?

Last week, the FBI issued a bulletin about Sheik Omar Abdel-Rahman, the Egyptian cleric who is considered the spiritual leader for groups of militant Muslims. Abdel-Rahman, who has been serving a prison sentence for planning to blow up various NYC landmarks, was found to have a tumor on his liver. And considering that he's been in poor health, the FBI was prompted to remind authorities that "Rahman pleaded for followers to 'extract the most violent revenge' should he die in U.S. custody." Hmm.

Abdel-Rahman's lawyer Lynne Stewart was found guilty of carrying out his messages while he was in custody. She was sentenced to 28 months in prison.

Lynne Stewart was convicted over a press release about a cease-fire in Egypt. A dumb breach of protocol but we have no reason to think she's ever hurt a human being in her life.

And in your previous coverage of the case did you bother referencing Democracy Now or The Nation, who detailed how the Feds turned the trial into a witch hunt intended to scare off defense lawyers who think our judicial process is...you know, valuable? No! No you did not. You just linked to the tabs and the Sun. Now who's providing material support to the enemies of democracy?
