Last Night's Action: Rangers Move Back Into First

2006_10_srangerslogo.jpg-Rangers 3 Philadelphia 1: This game should have been a blowout. From almost the opening face-off, New York seized control of the action, peppering shots against Antero Nittymaki and keeping the puck in the offensive zone.

Nittymaki did a good job keeping the puck out of the net, but the Rangers scored three times with rookie, Jarko Immonen, getting his first goal of the season and adding an assist. With Nittymaki’s strong goaltending, the game wasn’t wrapped up until Martin Straka and Michael Nylander combined on a pretty give-and-go to score the third goal with less than five minutes left in the game.

-Sabres 3 Devils 2: This was a great game with a weird ending. The Sabres generally controlled the pace of play, but they couldn’t score until halfway through the game. They added two goals in the third period and seemed to have the game put away, but New Jersey scored twice in the last minute to make things interesting.

-Dolan says Isiah has the rest of the year: I guess the fire Isiah chants aren’t working, but take a listen to a fascinating interview with Dolan from WFAN.

-Mets non-tender Zambrano: They could still bring him back, but this seems a fitting end to one of the worst trades in franchise history.
