The Big (Simulated) Apple

The New York City Journal is a blog about New York... in Sim City. It's author has spent many months laboriously recreating every detail of the five boroughs, from Times Square, to MSG, to Governors Island, to Roosevelt Island, and beyond. It's amazing stuff-- page through his monthly archives for reenactments of major New York events like September 11th and the Upper East Side plane crash.

If you like this stuff, you should check out the Lego New Yorks in The Brick Apple and New York Miniland-- not to mention the New York Panorama at the Queens Museum.

I saw that yesterday, that is totally awesome.

This is great, I loved playing that game back in the day. I may have to get my hands on a copy and install.

Great detail.

That guy has skill, patience and perseverance, but most of all, a lot of love for the city.

Cool, but that guy seriously needs to lay off the apostrophes. Possessive, not plural, dude!

I didn't expect my little project to get this much attention. I'm humbled and grateful for all the feedback. Thank you all. It took 3 years to get this far and it will take a long time to finish but it's a labor of love.

This site is a grammatical nightmare.

Now this is a way to express one's creative desires in a constructive manner. Forget those no-talent "taggers" who think they're creating "art" on subway cars. It's easy to have a fun hobby without defacing other people's property.

saw the work on this. it's amazing!! did you use the b.a.t. tool to do this?
