Shocked When Climbing on Top of Train

2006_12_njtransittrain.jpgA man was shocked after touching high voltage wires over a NJ Transit train parked inside Penn Station. The man had tried opening the train's doors, but when he couldn't, he climbed on top of the train. Authorities suspect the man may be homeless and was trying to get into the train to sleep. An Amtrak employee found the man, who was taken to New York-Weill Cornell Hospital for third-degree burns.

Roofs of trains are not meant for non-train employees. Last year, a man died while "subway surfing."

What an idiot.

Oh, and that's a picture of Newark Penn Station.

another candidate for the Darwin Award.

I know a guy who lost both of his legs from below the knees train surfing. He has prosthetic replacements that allow him to walk without extra support.

Since he wore long pants nearly all the time, and before I heard his story, I always thought he walked funny because he was always at the bar.

great, now taxpayers have to pay for his hospital treatment.

I've noticed some wackos trying to get into the train by climbing over and between the cars when the station is crowded, especially around 42nd street. Then they ride in between the cars outside for the duration of their ride. I guess they have earplugs or something since its so damn loud outside of the car.

And not only is that a picture of Newark Penn instead of NY Penn, it's a picture of the Raritan train on track 5, which doesn't even *run* on the overheads--it's diesel!
