11 Spring Street Update

The opening of the 11 Spring Street Wooster Collective project is still a couple of weeks away, but the building has already been transformed by artists from all over the world. Check out some of the stuff going up on the outside walls:

There's tons of stuff happening inside as well-- Obey was painting a huge wall on the ground floor yesterday, and WK, Faile, Thundercut, and others have also been doing huge pieces. We've got literally hundreds of pictures of the action, but Wooster has asked us not to post them until the opening in a couple of weeks (Friday-Sunday, December 15-17th). That's killing us-- but a promise is a promise, so the best we can do is link to some interior coverage going up elsewhere:

whoever painted the "no guns for the eyes of our children" over the original is a goddamn idiot. If you actually looked at the original picture the guy isn't holding a gun but a camcorder! He just looks menacing and black and he's holding the camcorder like a rifle but it's a CAMCORDER!!!!!!

that's the original-- and yes, it was a video camera. this is from the series that JR did in the projects outside paris-- i think in clichy.

it's funny cause it also reads "swords and shields over your ignorance". which is ironic as the defacer was ingnorant of the fact that it wasn't a gun. I guess somebody got too self righteous but didn't bother to check the facts that it was a camcorder.

I love JR's photos/28mm project (what #1,2 are talking about)
