Last night, just after 7pm, inside of a giant bubble in midtown, the Paper Nightlife Awards took place. In the world of fake awards ceremonies, this one takes the cake. Sadly, we didn't keep notes on who won what, so we cannot tell you who took home the "Best Designer with an Influence on the Nightlife Scene" award. We do recall La Esquina winning for "Restaurant with the Best Nightlife Scene." The white dude accepting the award snidely thanked "all the Mexicans" in his acceptance speech. Cultural exploitation is so fucking chic.
Fabian Basabe, Moby, Tinsley Mortimer, Perez Hilton, Leotard Fantastic, "It" boy Jackson Pollis, Ultragrrrl...were all there. Winning awards, giving awards, backscratching, getting drunk on free alcohol from the sponsors and being fabulous.
The special sonic treat at the end of the night? Fergie (who for some inexplicable reason has been on the cover of Paper twice in one year). We managed to grab some footage of "London Bridge", which gets cut off once Lady Bunny's giant wig got in our sightline:

Based on what I've read both here and on Gawker that touches upon this eclectic group...I would think that being in attendance would be akin to standing amongst the pods as the Gremlins hatched.
That picture of Tinsley on Gawker that's continually run...the one of her with the unhinged jaw? If you've ever seen "Flesh-Eating Mothers," the special effects they use aren't far off from that picture.
