the only thing running in Queens on the weekends are strip club patrons running from the cops.

the article says the 52 million from stuy town will paint 200 stations... that's $260,000 per station. considering most stations are heavily tiled, this seems like a lot to paint a bunch of poles.

MTA dudes with clipboards and stopwatches at the Greenpoint Ave. G stop this morning. Check.

The holiday fare thing is stupid because most riders already have their monthly unlimited metrocard. It pisses me off that they do this. People coming from Connecticut to see the tree at Rockefeller Center aren't who the MTA should be concerned about.

The $50M giveaway last year was ridiculous corporate waste. The greatest beneficiaries were the tourists!

Don3838, I'm with you, but the MTA never quite makes much sense.

So, Mr. Kalikow, if I have a bike, or a stroller, or luggage, or am disabled, tell me how I'm supposed to exit through the turnstyle instead of the "Emergency Exits".

I don't understand this line item thing about how due to a real estate deal they can now afford to paint 200 stations? What's the cause and effect there? Doesn't all incoming money go into the general pot? No comprendo!

that holiday fares thing still boggles my mind. people would much rather see capital and service improvements than get a holiday fare. and it's not like new people were brought to the system or public opinion would be swayed. people are going to use the subway period. in terms of attracting people to the mta, at best, it got some cheap curmudgeon who walks the 10 blocks every day to take the subway for that month cause it was cheaper.
