Extra, Extra

  1. Today on the Gothamist Newsmap: person down elevator shaft in Cobble Hill (!), a suspicious package at 96th and Lex, and an escaped prisoner in the Bronx.
  2. Bad news if you're a junkie squatter in the greater Park Slope area: the Batcave is now closed.
  3. Hank Greenberg is taking a run at the New York Times, but the Ochs-Sulzberger family seems unlikely to lose control, given that they control a restricted class of powerful voting stock.
  4. Hilarious and troubling at the same time: Seinfeld Recut.
  5. Time Out is running a special pizza issue this week. Di Fara in Midwood took top honors on their best-of list-- but a surprise: Sullivan Street Bakery took the bronze for their rectangular, no cheese pie.
  6. Reminder: never ask Lindsay Lohan to write your obituary!
  7. Anthony Bianchi, a Brooklyn-born English teacher, is running for mayor in the small city of Inuyama, Japan: "a city of 73,000 residents where cormorant fishing is a popular pastime."
  8. Best Borat-themed holiday promotion: the Wellington Hotel's "Borat Slept Here - NOT" package. It's only $117.13 for a room-- and you don't have to sleep in the elevator!
  9. 7 Train Extension Update: the new extension will not reach 10th Ave and 41st, and will cost at least a couple of hundred million dollars more than projected.
  10. And don't forget: the The 74th Rockefeller Tree Lighting is tonight-- the ceremony starts at 7pm, but switch gets flipped at 9. If you go, send pix!

How awesome of a name is Nestor?

Sounds like a Godzilla foe, or maybe a foil to Spiderman. Some man, probably an ornithologist, caught in a nuclear/biological hazard causing an avian-human genetic recombinant genetic mutation.

uuuuuuuummmm Nestor....that's not my dog doin that.....

That Lindsey Lohan letter is ATROCIOUS.

Doesn't she have "people"? Or spell or grammar check on her computer? GOOD LORD, what an insult to Altman. She's a lesser actress and should never have been given the opportunity to work with him in the first place.

  • Tom

Wow, they are trying to do too many transit projects at the same time and, as a result, none of them are getting done? Who'd have thunk that one?

  • So the 7 train exemption will cost more than anticipated. In other shocking revelations, two plus two equals four and the Sun rises in the east.
