THEATER: The Phoenix Theatre Ensemble’s production of Antigone begins previews tonight. They’ve chosen the French dramatist Jean Anouilh’s adaptation of Sophocles’ classic tragedy, “which challenged 1940s Vichy France with an enduring story about resistance: a young girl defies a king in order to honor burial rites for her brother. This ancient tale of one person’s stand against the unjust policies of the State resonated then, and continues with fresh relevance now.” - John Del Signore

8pm // Connelly Theater [220 E 4th St] // Tickets are $20

TREE LIGHTING!: Next up on the tree lighting schedule is Bryant Park. There is also a Stars on Ice performance on the pond, and live jazz provided by the people of Lincoln Center. More info here. Prospect Park and Lincoln Center had their tree lightings last night.

7pm // Bryant Park // Free

MUSIC: ¡Forward, Russia!, Snowden and Meneguar play Bowery Ballrooom tonight. We've mentioned Snowden here before. ¡Forward, Russia! played their first US show at a party we helped put on at SXSW earlier this year. If you haven't caught them, do so tonight. Drink some energy drinks beforehand, you'll need it to keep up with the tempo and the overall craziness of the show.

Check out a clip from their live show, above.

8pm // Bowery Ballroom [6 Delancey St] // $14
