On Saturday afternoon, Jose Sanchez and his fiance Sonia Lopez took their baby son to see Santa Claus at Macy's. Later that evening, Sanchez was crossing Conduit Avenue in East New York when a speeding car struck and killed him. The driver, Rudolph Daniels of Cleveland, was arrested and charged with manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, and driving without insurance; Daniels's license was already suspended in New York. The Post reports that he was driving "at least 48-mph in a 30-mph zone when he tried to pass another car" when he hit Sanchez. A witness tells the NY Times that he saw a second car drive over Sanchez, but the police have not confirmed that account.
And early yesterday morning, three people in a car were killed when their car hit a concrete barrier on I-95 in the Bronx. A fourth passenger is in critical condition at Jacobi Medical.

All the more reason to crack down on cyclists during Critical Mass. We need to get our priorities straight, people...
(BTW - First Post)
During the holidays with friends and famility traveling and visisting, many more people drive through unfamiliar neighborhoods and roads causing more accidents. It is therefore even more importatn to be alert in traffic.
OMG...He visited Santa in the morning and STILL got killed in the evening.
Writing that he saw Santa is so unnecessary, it boggles the mind.
Well, you know, it's extra sad because he was happy earlier.
"Now, was there a pet in the house? Yes, a pet, like a dog or a budgie or a gerbil. You see, what I need is PC Plod rescues Harry the Hamster from House of Horror'. All right... well, that's a pity, you see, no pets, no human angle."
