To #5: Isn't the point of a parade... the parading? The song-and-dance is just to make it more entertaining for people watching on TV. The clown antics, the marching bands and baton girls with the frostbitten knees, the floats and awesome balloons... THAT'S the parade. It's very much geared towards little kids, who don't mind the cold pavement and crowds and have a blast watching all the exciting things go by. That excitement is why people go to the parade at all. Yes it's irritating that there's a VIP special show, but that's not the parade.

I went to the parade last year and it was the worst piece of crap in the entire world!!! First of all, you don't see them do shit. All you see the marchers do is march. All the singers do is wave. the only thing you see is balloons and little kids screaming. Second of all, When the marchers get to 34th street herald square they do crazy choreographed routines that are amazing and the singers belt out their songs and get everyone dancing. That's what you see on television. The Only problem is that Joe Q Public don't get to see that cause 34th street is reserved for the rich hoity toity and their offspring. Only the rich and well connected get to see anything cool at the parade. the poor only get to see marching and waving while the rich get to see singing, dancing, backflips, confetti, fireworks, brass bands, cartoons, celebrities, and all that cool stuff you see on TV. Very dissapointing.
